Barclay House. Originally set up by Nick Barclay (now of the Blue Plate, see below). Nick sold up 2 years ago, but as far as I can tell, the standards are just as high. Has won loads of awards. 01503 262929.

Smugglers Cot. Another really ancient building, excellent steak house and carvery, and they can cook your fish in a paper bag!! Very good reports this year 01503 262397.
