Things to do near Penvith Barns

This is not a complete list, but it does give a flavour of what is happening around here. Winter may mean that the National Trust houses are shut up from the end of October, but their fabulous gardens are still available to explore.

Cotehele House has beautiful gardens and lots of winter events to enjoy. Visit the Great Hall around Christmas time, and see the incredible garland made by local people from dried flowers from the estate.

Mount Edgcumbe House has wonderful gardens and a Christmas Fayre on 11th and 12th December. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trebah Gardens and my personal favourite, Pine Lodge Gardens are all open, and of course the Eden Project is a fabulous, all the year round, plant paradise.

If you are into Steam Trains, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway can transport you back to the golden age of steam with one of it's Christmas luncheon trains. Whilst the Ghost Busters amongst you, must visit Bodmin Jail with it's Ghost Walks, and Orb Sightings.

Land's End, Jamaica Inn, Carnglaze Caverns, the Tamar Valley Donkey Park, Plymouth and it's acquarium are all available to visit out of season. Don't curl up in front of the t.v for 6 months waiting for summer. Come to Penvith Barns and enjoy a fabulous holiday instead!
